WHAT HAPPENED?
According to , Benfica have joined the growing list of clubs chasing Rios. After rejecting offers from Roma, Forest, and Wolves which all fell below €30 million (£25m/$34m), Palmeiras are still holding firm on their valuation. Benfica have tabled an offer worth €25m (£21m/$29m) flat, but it still falls short of the Brazilian club's demands.

Rios has become one of the most sought-after midfielders in the market following standout performances at the Club World Cup and in Brazil’s domestic campaign. Roma have made him a key midfield target and offered €23m (£20m/$26m) plus €3m (£2.5m/$3.5m) in bonuses, but Palmeiras are under no pressure to sell unless their €30m asking price is met.
